Scholars who oppose Bible reading can be divided according to their mentality, and they can be divided into two categories: sincerity and non-sincerity. A sincere opponent is one who really cares about education, civilization, national relations and humanity. He is afraid that reading the Bible will damage education. , hinders civilization, weakens the nation, and harms mankind, so we oppose it. This kind of opponent is a person who has not forgotten his roots, is sincere, and has sentimentality. Regardless of whether the reasons for his opposition are deep or not, we should respect them. But insincere opponents oppose for the sake of opposition and are emotional, especially many highly regarded “teaching scholars” such as Wei The so-called returnee scholars who admire the West often use their biased opinions based on what they have learned and know to intuitively oppose anyone who disagrees with him. Therefore, although they are in the “academic world”, the issues they discuss are not “academic”. They often use what they think is the “other party” to attack them without thinking before they understand the other party clearly. . This is called the “scarecrow phenomenon” in academic circles, that is, you have made a scarecrow, thinking in your mind: “This is my enemy”, so you start fighting seriously. A scholar with this habit will not listen to other people’s explanations with an open mind. He has no academic conscience and is a person with imperfect sensibility. But often this kind of person has a very big temper, his words are lethal and exciting, and he will get into trouble with you. This kind of person is not worthy of respect, but this kind of person is terrifying.

We have two ways to deal with such people: the first is to avoid them temporarily and wait for them to become boring and decline. Because their opinions are rootless, like waves, they come fiercely. The more you pay attention to them, the more energetic they become. But if you ignore them, they will soon recede. Because of their intentions, they were not sincere in thinking about the true meaning of knowledge, and they had no interest in finding a future for the country, the nation, and mankind. Therefore, they did not have the persistence to stand up and fight. They were just temporary emotional outbursts. After that, it just stopped. This is why Lao Tzu said, “The wind does not end, and the rain does not end the day.” Mencius said, “There is no foundation. So the second way to deal with such people is: refute them one by one. But this is quite tiring, because the questions they ask are actually “straw man” questions. They may be very old and outdated, or they may be imagined by themselves, or they may be the inevitable existence of Liuhe.
